Wooden playhouses compared: sizes and prices

A wooden playhouse lasts long after the plastic ones crack. The ones below are proper timber buildings, so a child can grow into them and you can turn them into a tool store later.

Prices and ratings from Tuin.co.uk when we checked (October 2026), cheapest first. Delivery and base not included. Affiliate links, how that works. We have not built these ourselves.

What to look for

  • Check the window material. Styrene or plexiglass is safer than glass for small children.
  • Stilt playhouses need soft ground below: bark chips or grass, not paving.
  • Leave space to open the door fully and walk round the house.
  • Treat the timber with a child safe preserver.
